Institute of Economic and Market Research (IEMR) was established in 1972, at the infancy of Economic and Market Research in India to offer a mutually adopted and cost effective alternative to collect collate and analyze relevant information about people's needs demands and receptivity for emerging products and developmental services. In the past 30 years of dedicated service to Indian research field IEMR has completed more than 400 socio economic techno-economic and market research and consultancy projects. In view of its professional ethics and process capability IEMR attained the status of recognized institution by IDBI for providing consultancy on market research and allied activities in the early 80's.

 

IEMR established to cater to market and economic research needs of Indian Industry and Service Sector as an interdisciplinary research and consultancy organization now addresses a variety of management issues in project and product development, market research and marketing. Apart from marketing research and related services, IEMR established its presence in the fields of socio economic research social marketing, corporate and business research public opinion polls, pre and post implementation services, projectisation, human resource development and management technology import and foreign collaboration identification etc.

 

IEMR is also affiliated to Centre for Research, Planning & Action (CERPA) a premier research and development institution recognised by DSIR and approved under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act by Ministry of Home Affairs. CERPA is accredited to UNECOSOC and is an approved Centre of Excellence of UNESCAP for HRD.

PROFILE

 

IEMR is incorporated as a private Limited company with registered and principal offices in Delhi. The board of directors is headed by Mr. S.P. Ahuja as Executive Director, an economist and sociologist formerly of Indian Economic Service and a British council Scholar. Other directors include leading Industrial and Financial Consultants, Sociologists and Economists.

The Executive director is assisted in his day to day activities by research programmes development training publication and co ordination divisions. Technical manpower is drawn from various specialized streams of economics, business management, Marketing, Personal Management, Finance, Engineering, Law, Sociology, Statistics, Operation Research software Engineering, Education, Agriculture International Trade and relations etc. IEMR also have a panel of advisors and consultants whose expertise is utilized for concerned projects. Day to day operations are administered by a team of secretarial staff.

IEMR over the last two decades have attained specialization in many areas including socio economic techno economic industrial marketing and behaviour research. IEMR in association with CERPA have conducted various national and international workshops and seminars and have published more than 100 publications/ reports on various industries and issues

Marketing and Techno Economic Industrial Research

Various industrial Sectors have been serviced by IEMR for conducting market research feasibility studies location studies export potential studies customer perception studies etc. Major industrial sectors covered by IEMR include

Paper industry : IEMR is synonymous with research in paper industry with its pioneering works since 1972. IEMR had conducted about 30 feasibility and market research studies for various capacity units and about 75 specialty papers. This Institute has also published a book on "Paper Industry : status and prospects " in 1972,1982 and 1992

Bakery Industry : IEMR claims the credit of servicing several medium and large scale baking and biscuit units that came up in Northern India from mid 70's to 90's through its works for various associations and units. IEMR had conducted more than 25 assignments in the field. The institute also published Status and Prospects report in this sector

Tourism, Hotel and Real Estate : This Institute's contribution to tourism industry is displayed trough the publication " Tourism Industry - A perspective to 1990's ".IEMR had conducted various studies including feasibility studies tourism and traffic potential studies etc, IEMR also associates with management consultancy in development of specialised tourist resorts, star hotels, golf courses etc in association with one of the most prominent tourism and real estate consultants in USA.

Chemicals, Petro Chemicals and Fertilizers : Over the years IEMR had conducted about 50 market research and feasibility studies in the area of chemical and fertilizers. Various studies included Synthetic Detergents, Calcium carbonate, Caustic soda, chlorine, Acetone and allied chemicals, Sorbitol, Plastic based products, Polythene, Yeast, Fibers etc. IEMR has also conducted pre-investment feasibility studies for fertilizer units

Steel, Aluminium and Other Metallurgical Fields : IEMR had conducted considerable research in metallurgical sector. Apart from techno-economic feasibility and market research this institute have also conducted various organizational studies for many prominent engineering and technical consultancy organizations. IEMR have also made available to industrial units two reports on status and Investment Prospects upto 2005-10 in Steel and Aluminium industry.

Agricultural and Allied products : IEMR had prepared long term perspective plans for oilseeds cultivation in India and has released three publications on 'Oilseeds Status' in India. IEMR had also conducted various pre- investment studies for food processing industries, agriculture based industries, horticulture, floriculture medicinal plants, pulses etc.

Perception Studies : IEMR have made inroads in the field of Perception studies - a must for self evaluation by organizations aiming to attain leadership in the long run. IEMR has successfully accomplished few perception studies on staff, Client and Employees of leading private and public sector undertakings.

Opinion Poll : This institute has undertaken various independent opinion polls all over India. Various polls conducted all over India include that on factors of Investment decision making conducted among top executives of leading Indian/Foreign Industries.

Field operations

IEMR has its own human and other resources and an effective network all over India to conduct time specific large scale field surveys. IEMR's task force at Delhi consists of Field Operations managers and executives with considerable years of experience. Apart from own investigators, IEMR has a roll of freelance investigators in different states of India for undertaking field work in regional languages.

Network

The institute has link offices at all metros and major state capitals in India, Link Offices co ordinate field operations in respective states where assistance of local staff for canvassing in local language is availed. IEMR has its resource personnel at London, Paris and New York for assisting it in international research assignments. It also has business associates in United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Germany.

Other facilities

IEMR has state of art office automation to meet any challenging task at specified time target. Institute has a Data Processing Division to meet the programming and processing requirements of various assignments. Institute also has an in house printing and publishing facility and a full fledged library. A 150 MB data bank is also created by IEMR on socio economic, technical and market related statistics in India.
